One of the great musicians of the big band era and one outstanding Belle Vernon Area music teacher. A part of music history will be lost. Always remembered his students from 50 years ago. Former student, Mayor Gerald W. Jackson II Belle Vernon

I was in 4th grade when Mr Dacko approached me in the hall and said "Here, see if you can blow into this mouthpiece!" That was 1977, and it began many years of enjoyment and friendship through my high school years playing in the band. This has carried over to my own children, which I am so thankful for.
I was also friends with his granddaughter Shelly. I remember them both fondly.
Our condolences to the family.

My deepest sympathy in the loss of Mr. Dacko. I took trombone lessons from him for nine years and went on to become a music teacher/band director. I also had the pleasure of playing along with him in local bands. He was an amazing teacher, musician and man. Rest in Peace, Mr. Dacko, and thank you for making me the musician that I am today.
