Charles Resetar

Charles Resetar, lovingly known as “Chuck”, passed on March 22, 2019 at the age of 92. Born in Monessen on June 11, 1926, he was the son of the late John and Anna Almasi Resetar. Chuck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother had a blessed life. He joined the U.S. Navy with his brother Andy and served on the USS Ruby. After the Navy, Chuck returned to Monessen where he joined the Monessen Church Choir and met and fell in love with his wife, Irene, during a choir trip to Kennywood. Irene and Chuck had four daughters and settled in Monessen where Chuck built their family home with his own hands. As a mechanic at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Monessen, Chuck put his love of cars and ability to fix anything to good use. After retiring from the steel mill, Chuck spent his life constantly on the go. He loved to tell stories of his life adventures including playing football in high school, teaching martial arts in the U.S. Navy, and teaming up with his twin brother Andy to occasionally switch places. Chuck had all the love in the world for his family. In his last hours, he thought of his family and blessed them with his love. His love is eternal in our hearts. Family members, in addition to his wife, Irene, include his four daughters: Susan (the late Bob) Henderson, Theresa (Dave) Racine, Maryann (Stephen) Sopko, and Cathy (Kevin) Jansma. Grandchildren: Cathy Henderson, Michelle Racine, Nicole Racine, and Anna Racine; Stephen Sopko & Sarah Sopko; Zach Jansma & Joe Jansma; Great-Granddaughter: Hannah Sopko; sisters: Helen Natko and Sophie Resetar and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by siblings: Anna Wotkowski, John ‘Ketch’ Resetar, Andy Resetar, Michael ‘Skeeter’ Resetar, Mae Tarasuk and his parents: John and Anna Resetar. The family would like to thank all the family, friends and care givers that assisted Chuck. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Robert A. Billick’s Funeral Home Inc., Grand Blvd and Marion Ave in Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com. Panachida will be on Wednesday at 9:30 am in the Funeral Home Followed by 10 am Funeral Services in St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery
