George Papantonakis

George Papantonakis 90 of Monessen passed peacefully on Sunday January 8th  in Paramount Hospice Pittsburgh. Born in Monessen on October 22 1927 he was the son of the late Pantelis and Marina Argiroudis Papantonakis. George was a member of St Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church where he served as Cantor. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co, and served his country in the U.S. Army during WW II. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his wife Elizabeth Kolich Papantonakis and two brothers Alex and Gus Papantonakis. He is survived by his daughter and son in law Mary and James Rosgony of Jefferson Hills. Two sons and a daughter in law George Papantonakis of Monessen and Paul and Jamie Papantonakis of Pittsburgh. His grandchildren Rebecca and Amanda Rosgony, Elissa and Mathew Papantonakis and Kaitlyn Papantonakis. One sister Katherine Manolakis of Long Island NY. A sister in law Irene Papantonakis of Monessen. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Joseph Cervo Officiating, entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Trisagion services will be held on Thursday at 7 pm in the funeral home.
