Henry A. Drozd, age 93, long standing resident of Monessen and resident of The Pines of Mt Lebanon for the past 8 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 24, 2013 surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Monessen on January 12, 1920 Henry retired from U.S. Steel Corporation after 35 years. Henry was a WWII veteran serving his country in the U.S. Army, a member of the American Legion for 50 years, a life long member of The Polish National Alliance serving for many years as Financial Secretary, a member of The Polish Heritage Society and a member of The Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church. Henry was uncle to Richard (Jane) Drozd, Marilyn (Martin) Dombey, Robert Drozd, Irene (Daniel) Damratoski, Veronica (Charles) Kniha, Christine (Edward) Kroskie, Jean (Cyrus) Anderson and had 12 great nieces and nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews. Henry was very devoted to his Catholic faith. He was loved by all who knew him and touched the lives of many people with his kindness, gentleness and giving heart. Friends and family will be received on Sunday January 27, 2013 from 1 until 7pm in the Robert A Billick Funeral Home Inc.and cremation service Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen. A blessing service will be held on Monday January 28, 2013 at 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a 10 am Funeral Mass in the Epiphany of Our Lord R.C. Church Monessen. Interment will follow in St. Hyacinth's cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: The Wounded Warriors Project 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300 Jacksonville, Fl. 32256 in memory of Henry.
