John R. Dzimiera

March 11, 1951 — July 15, 2015

John R. Dzimiera, 64, formerly of Cecil Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born in Monessen on March 11, 1951, he was the son of the late John T. and Sabina Marchewka Dzimiera. He was a retired mine worker and was formerly employed by Mon View Mining and Mathies Mine. Zimmy, as he was affectionately called, had many interests. He enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking, power lifting, and was also a train and car enthusiast. Zimmy also enjoyed taking long touring trips on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand with any project, large or small. One of Zimmy’s proudest accomplishments was building his own log house. He also liked to follow the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas W. Dzimiera. He is survived and will be greatly missed by a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Michael Gigliotti of Belle Vernon, a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Anna Maria Dzimiera of Monessen; nieces and nephews, Hannah and Luke Gigliotti, Nathan and Rachel Dzimiera, and Jedediah and Cassie Dzimiera; great niece and nephews Gianna and Cameron Dzimiera and Garan Fennell, Jr. A private blessing service and funeral mass were held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Roger Statnick officiating. Interment followed in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were provided by ROBERT A.
