Margaret (Homas) Opat

Margaret Opat 83 of Monessen on Thursday November 1 2018 in Mon Valley Care Center. Born in N. Charleroi on October 5 1935 she was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Chomas Homas. Margaret was a 1953 Graduate of Monessen High School and a devoted Member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church. She retired as a waitress working at both Rego's and the Holiday Restaurants. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Michael Opat and a son Ted Opat. Three sisters Ann Gallas, Rose Adamson and Helen Meisl. She is survived by her son Gary Downard of Monongahela one brother Ben Homas of Texas and two sisters Olga Cieply and Mary Coleman both of Monessen , numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave. Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am in St. Nick's Church with Very Rev. Fr. Constantine Curchin Officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
