It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of an angel here on earth: Megan Marie Vaccaro, 40, passed away far too soon after a courageous three-year battle with cancer on February 4, 2026. Megan fought the disease with strength and determination, handling it with dignity and grace until the very end. Megan was blessed to have a loving, devoted husband in Chris, who was a steadfast caretaker and partner in her struggle against cancer. Megan enjoyed her daily conversations and get-togethers with her family, who meant the world to her. She also loved spending time with her close friends, who were like family to her. Megan was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed her. She enjoyed making Ukrainian pysanky, had a flare for decorating, and loved pink flamingos. Megan was a Monessen High School graduate with the Class of 2004. She was also a graduate of Westmoreland County Community College and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. Megan was a Leave Specialist at UPMC, where she loved her job and co-workers. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, including her fur baby, her disabled cat, Willie, whom she found so much joy in caring for. Megan was a bright light for all who loved and adored her.

Megan was born in N. Charleroi on May 15, 1985, to Michael "Mickey" and Nancy (Cieply) Shepler. Megan is survived by her beloved husband, Christopher Vaccaro, whom she married on May 28, 2016; her mother, Nancy Shepler; father, Mickey Shepler (Susan); sister, Lindsay Beregi (Danny Persico); grandmother, Evelyn Shepler; mother-in-law, Carlene Vaccaro (Mark Beeman); sister-in-law, Nicole Vaccaro; grandmother-in-law, Serafina Vaccaro; and aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Cieply, Shepler, DiGiacomo, and Vaccaro families, whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Olga Cieply, and Lloyd Shepler; father-in-law, Chris Vaccaro; and brother-in-law, Sandor "Shunny" Beregi. Private family visitation was held on Tuesday, February 10th in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home in Monessen, followed by funeral services officiated by Fr. Anthony Onoko. Interment followed in Grandview Cemetery.
