Nicholas M. Mahalko 79 of Charleroi formerly of Monessen  on Tuesday July 14 2015 in Allegheny General Hospital Pittsburgh Born in Monessen on November 25 1935 he was the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Shuma Mahalko. Nick spent most of his life residing in Monessen until marrying his beloved wife Janice Revetta Mahalko on June 26, 1999. He retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co, he also worked for Power Piping, P.N.C. Bank, and drove for S.P.H.S. He was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Many will remember Nick for his love of baseball. He was the founder of Monessen Midget League Baseball, he coached baseball at all levels from midget league through college levels. Nick was a graduate of Monessen High School and attended the University of Tennessee on a baseball scholarship, pitching for the  Volunteers. Besides his parents he was proceeded in death by his first wife Eleanor  Matush Mahalko and a grandson Nathan Tirpak. Besides his wife Janice of 16 years he is survived by four sons and three daughters in law  Nicholas Mahalko III, and David and Pam Mahalko of Monessen, Chris and Alaina Collins of Charleroi and Brad and Heather Collins of Mt. Lebanon. Five grandchildren Jonathan Tirpak, Nicklas Collins, Anna Collins, Kyle Collins and pap's best buddy Alex Collins. Nick also leaves behind his special friends James Rue and Richard and Dee Cicci and families.  Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave. Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com. Prayers will be held on Friday at 9:30 am in the Funeral Home followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 am in St. Mary's Church with Fr. Stephen Wahal Officiating interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made in Nick's memory to Juvenile Arthritis Foundation 790 Holiday Dr.  Foster Plaza #11 Pittsburgh PA. 15220
