Paul Pushnack

Paul Pushnack, 98 years, of Monessen, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Hallsworth House Personal Care Home. Born in Charleroi on June 29, 1922, to the late Theodore and Eva Bailey Pushnack, Paul was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy Sucevich Pushnack; brothers, John, Ted, George, and Nicholas; sisters Anna Andercheck and Mary Marek. Paul is survived by his son Douglas (Cheryl) Pushnack of Ruffsdale, daughter, Darlene Pushnack, with whom he made his home; one grandson Chad (Julie) of Penn Township; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Anna; sisters-in-law, Bertha Sucevich Krajac of Clairton and Connie Savarino Sucevich of Pleasant Hills; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul proudly served his country during WWII as a gunner's mate in the United States Navy and worked as a rigger for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Company upon his return from the war. Russian Orthodox by faith, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and a role model to his family and his community. Paul was a member of the Monessen American Legion Post 28, past president of the Monessen Little League, former coach of the Rotary baseball team, served as a chairman for the Monessen Recreation Board and Monessen Eastgate War Memorial project and served as a former member and officer of the Curbstone Coaches and Quarterback Clubs. He was also a past director on the Monessen City School Board. Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community as he made a difference for all who knew him. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff members at OSPTA Hospice Care and Hallsworth House for the care and compassion they provided to Paul over the last four months. Private funeral services were held on Monday, December 7, 2020, at the Robert. A. Billick Funeral Home, Grand Boulevard & Marion Avenue, Monessen, PA, www.billicksfuneralhome.com, followed by internment in Grandview Cemetery.
