Robert “Bob” Betza, 92, of Monessen, Pa., Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Barnabas Health System. Born in Monessen on May 18, 1933, Bob was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Chismar Betza and was a graduate of Monessen High School's Class of 1951.
A member of the former Holy Name Parish and Epiphany of Our Lord Church, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of VFW Post 1190, the Monessen Elks, the Croatian Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles #2399, and a trustee of the former Slovak Home.
Bob was married to his high school sweetheart, Rosemary Benyak, with whom he shared 70 wonderful years, including their time together singing with Pro Musica and the choirs of the former Holy Name Church and, most recently, St. Sebastian's for over 25 years. Bob and Rosemary also enjoyed spending winters in Florida and taking trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and on cruises.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Betza Pileggi; five brothers, Andrew, John, Michael, George, and Joseph; and a sister, Mary Duran. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: Robert and his wife Robin Betza of Gibsonia, and Kenneth and his wife Donna Betza of Lower Burrell; and grandchildren Maura and her husband Dale Walker, Stephen and his wife Shalynn Betza, Rob Betza, and Christopher Betza. Bob was also the proud “Pap” of five great-grandchildren: Eli, Noah, and Hudson Betza and Duke and Molly Walker.
Friends will be received on Friday, May 8, at the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc., Grand Blvd. and Marion Ave., Monessen, Pa., from 3 until 7 p.m. A blessing service will be held Saturday at 12 noon in the funeral home, followed by a 12:30 p.m. funeral Mass at Epiphany of Our Lord Church. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church or the Monessen Public Library.
