He was currently employed at ArcellorMittal USA at the Monessen Plant, as a steelworker who specialized in the byproducts department. Shunny really enjoyed the job and the company of his co-workers. Shunny was a loyal husband, family member and friend. He had a unique sense of humor that his wife and family adored. He treated his wife like a queen and the two of them were rarely seen without the other. He loved to fly fish, was an avid aquarist, and rooted for all Pittsburgh sports teams. He was a horror movie enthusiast and he also enjoyed paranormal and bigfoot documentaries. One of his fondest memories was meeting his horror movie idol, George A. Romero, Director of the 1968 movie classic “The Night of the Living Dead.” October was his favorite month as he loved all things Halloween and he was saddened that he spent the month of October 2019 extremely ill. Shunny loved to cook and was a master at homemade wedding soup, gnocchi, stuffed banana peppers, beef ravioli and halupki. He loved ordering from pizza shops, especially Nuzzaci’s, and he always had room for a steak and lobster. In recent years, it was rare to see him without his iPad in his hands researching his latest interest. Shunny was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 3403. He was also a member of Hilltop Firemen’s Club in Monessen, and he was a longtime member and former bartender at the now closed Hungarian Club of Monessen where he met his wife and life partner. He will be deeply missed by his wife, his family and friends, as Shunny was a one of a kind human being who was known for his kindness, loyalty and humor. He will live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. Vichnaya Pamyat! Memory Eternal! “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.” His family expresses their gratitude for the kindness shown to him by all the staff at Jefferson Hospital Cancer Institute and Allegheny Health Network Hospice.
