Violet Papantonakis

Violet Papantonakis, 90, of Charleroi, formerly of Monessen, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully the morning of May 22, 2012, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sophia (Kopec) and Michael Bomba; her seven brothers, Stanley, John, Frank, Bernard, Joseph, Edward and Henry; and her husband, Constantine "Gus" Papantonakis. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marina and Pete Agrafiotis, of Monongahela; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Virginia Papantonakis, of Philadelphia; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Eugene Johnston, of Pittsburgh; and daughter, Sophia Papantonakis, of Owings Mills, Md. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Thomas P. Agrafiotis, Gretchen Gautier, Michael Robert and Jeremey Papantonakis; and seven great-grandchildren, Joshua, Andrew and Aimee-Lynne Gautier and Jacob, Adam, Zoe, and Ian Papantonakis. Violet, a homemaker and nearly lifelong resident of Monessen, worshipped at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and was a member of the Philoptochos Society. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in the ROBERT A. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 25, at St. Spyridon Church at 10 a.m. with burial at Grandview Cemetery immediately following services.
