Anastasia (Zombakis) Tetteris

Anastasia (Stacy) Tetteris 91 of Monessen passed peacefully with her family on Friday, March 25, 2022 in her home. Born in Chios, Greece on July 15, 1930 she was the daughter of the late George and Policriti Vasilakis Zombakis. After World War II, Stacy came over to the United States with her father in pursuit for a better education. She became an active member of the original St. Spyridon Church, joining the Greek American Progressive Association Young Ladies Lodge of Monessen. She participated in many fundraisers, including plays to help build the new St. Spyridon Church on Reeve Avenue. Her service to the church continued throughout her lifetime, where she was an active member and officer for the Ladies Philoptochos Society, President of the Sunday School program and a member of the church choir. An excellent seamstress, she volunteered many hours in creating various articles for the church. Stacy was also a talented baker, and helped the church with numerous cookie sales, festival preparation and servings. She also loved baking for her family.  With a green thumb, Stacy surrounded the family home with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. Stacy worked at the Magora's Sewing Factory when she was single and also worked at Stern's Furniture Store, sewing custom draperies. Stacy loved to read and volunteered at the Monessen Public Library. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Steve Sotiras Tetteris, two sisters Virginia Kritis and Eleanora Mikerdis, and a brother Demo (George) Zombakis. A mother of three, Stacy is survived by two daughters and a son in law, Maria Tetteris and husband Ron Kurey of Belle Vernon,PA, Paulette Tetteris of Winston-Salem, NC, and one son and daughter in law George and Betty Tetteris of Mt. Pleasant, PA. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, George Tetteris Jr., Anastasia Woosley, Alexandra “Stephanie” Woosley,  Stephen and Jessica Antonishen, and Michael and Kelly Antonishen. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren Joy and Robin Antonishen. Stacy loved her numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and was thankful for her extended family. Spunky and kind, Stacy left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Grand Blvd and Marion Ave Monessen www.billicksfuneralhome.com.  and on Wednesday from 9 until 10 am at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church. Services start with Fr. Meletios Gianniodis officiating. Entombment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Trisagion services will be held on Tuesday at 7 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St Spyridon Church or the Monessen Public Library.
