Carl Menego, 79, of Monessen, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 16, 2023 at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh. He was born on November 1, 1943 to Guido and Rose (Kotchman) Menego in Cokeburg, PA. He was a graduate of Charleroi High School class of 1961. He joined the US Air Force in 1964 and served until 1968, upon discharge he worked full time with the Air National Guard 112th Tactical Fighter Group and the 171st Air Refueling Wing. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church where he served 26 years on council in the capacity of Secretary, Vice President, and President of the church council. He also served as Church Financial Secretary for 10 years. Carl was honored by receiving the Parishioner of the Year award. He served his beloved St. Spyridon church in other capacities as a worker for the church festivals, custodian, and in many other ways that he could. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Eugenia "Jeannie" (Manos) Menego, two daughters, Alexandra "Sandy" (Bill Pireaux) Jacobs, Tina (Craig) Lee; three grandchildren, Peter & Hannah Lee, Jack Jacobs; Sister-in-law Maria Planey; two nephews, John Wheeler, Richard (Regina) Planey; nieces, Denise Wheeler, Beth Planey; great nieces, Megan and Lauren Planey, and many cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Elaine Wheeler; in-laws, Gus and Matina Manos. Friends will be received on Sunday, March 19th from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm in the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc., Grand Blvd. & Marion Avenue Monessen, Pennsylvania. Additional visitation will be held Monday March 20th at 9:00 am until 10:00 am in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, a funeral service will follow with Fr. Meletios Gianniodis officiating.
