Marian Aline (Harris) Cherkin

Ft. Myers, Florida

Marian A. Cherkin, 99 of The Landings Fort Myers FL passed away peacefully May 1st, 2022.

Born in Connellsville, PA January 7th 1923 was the daughter of the late Julius Harris and Lottye Kinsbursky Harris.

Marian followed her son and daughter and family to Fort Myers after living in Monongahela, PA. for 70 years.

A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Marian always made time for friends and community. During WWII while attending the University of Pittsburgh she participated in several efforts to help our soldiers during their time of need. Following the War Marian worked for United Artists prior to getting married. While living her life in the Mon Valley she volunteered for countless organizations including the Donora Public Library, YMCA, and her husband’s optometric practice. A dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins recently received a personal video from Sidney Crosby wishing her well during her illness.

Marian was the oldest living member of the Monongahela Valley Area Country Club and Temple Beth AM in Monessen, PA serving as secretary of the Temple, sisterhood and cemetery committees.

Survivors include a son Brad (Terri), daughter Heidi Camper (Rick), grandchildren Adam (Jessica) Cherkin, Kara Cherkin, Benjamin (Camille) Camper, Carter (Erika) Camper, Jay (Ali) Camper, great-grandchildren Caden, Brayden, Wyatt ,Cooper, and Lettie Camper.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Harold of 50 years, parents Julius and Lottye Harris and a brother Howard Harris.

Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home Inc. Monessen PA.  Family requests no flowers; contributions in her memory can be made to Temple Beth AM Cemetery Fund C/O Mark Shire 1711 Grand Boulevard Monessen, PA 15062.
