Obituary

Nathan Joseph Campus, 73, of Monessen, passed away on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, in Peters Township Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his loving family by his side. He was born on Feb. 27, 1950, in North Charleroi, son of the late Nathan A. and Bruna Tocci Campus. Raised in North Belle Vernon, he attended St. Sebastian School and Mon Valley Catholic High School. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in economics and later received his master’s certificate from Washington University. He retired after a long and successful career as a senior project manager with the United States Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Lab in South Park. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, where he served as eucharistic minister and he most cherished serving the homebound. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the former Belle Vernon Council of Knights of Columbus. Nathan served as a past board member of the Monessen Public Library, Monessen Catholic School and the MEM Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed fishing and was a legacy member of Charleroi Fishing Club. He also loved anything mechanical, especially vintage cars and restoring his classic Corvette. He loved celebrating Christmas with his family and showed his generous nature and Christmas spirit by anonymously paying off layaways for families with children. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Jarabeck Campus; two daughters, Crisanne (Christopher) Nolan of Pittsburgh and Lisa (Brian) Heller of McMurray; two grandchildren, Claire and Ian Heller; sister, Lynn (John) Nallo of Rostraver Township; sisters-in-law, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
